Introducing VESSL AI
VESSL AI - MLOps for high-performance ML teams
- Our vision is to build a general purpose AI system that can make final decisions through various AI models. We aim to develop a system that provides comprehensive insights by analyzing data through multiple, interconnected AI models. We believe that state-of-the-art technologies such as large language models (LLMs) will significantly change corporate decision-making and operations. VESSL AI is playing a leading role in this change, supporting companies to leverage AI to create greater value.
- The name VESSL AI purposefully fits our vision. VESSL is named after the concept of a ship or vessel. Just as a ship carries various containers on a voyage, VESSL AI carries numerous AI models, each represented as a container. These models - like the containers on a ship - work together to navigate the vast ocean of data and deliver solutions. Thus, VESSL AI is a vessel that transports AI solutions and ensures a smooth and efficient voyage.
- Why VESSL AI?
- VESSL AI is an end-to-end MLOps platform that streamlines the process of training, optimizing deploying, and enhancing machine learning models including GenAI and LLMs across any cloud environment. This not only makes the model training and deployment process more efficient, but offers potential computing cost savings. VESSL AI is also the only platform that supports multi-cloud and hybrid cloud configurations.
- VESSL AI has implemented the principles of 'scalability', 'traceability', and 'reproducibility' - principles of modern software development - to machine learning projects with the advent of DevOps.
- History of VESSL AI
- CEO Jaeman An worked as Chief of Staff and Vice President of the engineering division at a medical AI startup. There, he experienced various challenges in introducing machine learning models to real environments and found that the problem is a common concern in many industries. In the process, he received consulting from former colleagues, Yongseon and Jihwan, who were working at Sendbird and Google at the time. Convinced of the growing demand for MLOps as more companies sought to expand their operations using AI, the trio founded VESSL AI in April 2020.
- VESSL AI launched its MLOps platform as an open beta in March 2021, and has since secured major customers including Hyundai Motors, Samsung, Cognex, as well as leading academic institutions such as KAIST AI (Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology) and computer vision companies. Hyundai Motor's autonomous driving team, Tmap, Yanolja, Scatterlab, etc., all also train and operate various AI models through VESSL’s platform. Furthermore, VESSL AI is collaborating with global big tech companies such as Oracle and Google Cloud. Through these collaborations, VESSL AI aims to provide an even more powerful AI platform and is discussing joint marketing and GTM strategies for this.
- VESSL AI raised $4.4 million (approximately 6 billion Korean won) in the Pre-A Round, and in this round, A Ventures and Spring Camp participated in the investment under the leadership of KB Investment and Mirae Asset Venture Investment. This was an investment received one year after the company received a seed round investment of $400,000 (approximately 500 million won).
- VESSL AI has headquarters in Seoul and California and has more than 30 employees with diverse company backgrounds such as Google, Sendbird, and PUBG.
